Natuurlijke Snoeprepen

Porridge has always been extremely popular here in Scotland. But ever since we launched Stoats ten years ago, the popularity of its oaty goodness has spread far and wide. In the early days you could only find our porridge at music festivals where we served it from our little trailer, named the ‘Stoats Porridge Bar’.
This led a customer to request, of all things, a porridge bar. We always aim to please, so we set about making them in Tony’s mum’s kitchen.
Demand for our products quickly grew and, naturally, so did our range. We’re certainly fulfilling our mission to bring “porridge to the people.”
Oats have a long history in Scottish culinary tradition as they’re best suited to Scotland’s short, wetter growing season. In Scotland, oats are either stoneground to create oatmeal, or rolled to create jumbo and flaked oats. It’s the jumbo and flaked oats that form the main ingredient of all Stoats products. Porridge is made by cooking the oats in water, milk or both, and is usually served hot in a bowl or dish. It may be sweetened with sugar or honey or, as is traditional in the north of Scotland, served with a sprinkle of sea salt. Porridge is one of the easiest ways to digest healthy grains and is commonly eaten by athletes in training. It’s a tasty, filling, versatile dish that can be topped with a variety of fruits, nuts and seeds.
